What is the difference between original, genuine, branded, dismantled and off-the-shelf parts?

21 Nov,2022

There are many people who often hear the terms original parts, branded parts and various other accessories. However, it is not always clear how to distinguish them or what exactly the difference is.
First of all, there are the original accessories.

As the name suggests, original car parts are the parts that come with the original car itself, and the producer of the parts is the supplier of the parts used by the car manufacturer to assemble the car. These parts are in fact identical to those on the original car, and the parts have the authorisation and certification of the car manufacturer, so the quality is reliable and matches the bodywork very well, but they are also very expensive.
Next is the original parts.

The original parts are the same as the original car parts, and their place of production is from the car manufacturer's parts supplier who assembled the car. Their quality and specifications are also not very different from the originals. The only difference is that there is no authorisation from the car manufacturer.
However, in terms of quality, the quality of these parts is generally not too different from the original, but the price is lower than the original parts because of the lack of authorisation.

Furthermore, there are branded parts.

Branded parts refer to the parts produced by large companies specialising in the production of car parts. The quality of these parts does not differ much from the original parts, mainly because they are not authorised by the car manufacturer. Many brand manufacturers have OE standards, like Bosch, Pfeiffer and other international brands, and there is absolutely no difference in the quality of their parts compared to the original parts. The price of these branded parts is generally lower than the price of the original parts.
Next is the dismantled parts.

Dismantled parts are spare parts removed from the original car. In fact, there is no problem with the quality of these dismantled parts, what we need to worry about is its source, if it is removed from the spare parts of some accident cars, and it happens that these dismantled parts are also damaged in the accident, then these dismantled parts can never be used. The other good dismantled parts are the original parts from domestic scrap cars that are very old or used for a very short period of time. Generally speaking, dismantled parts are equivalent to second-hand spare parts, which are very cheap and can be used if they are less worn and used less frequently. However, these dismantled parts are generally not guaranteed.
